Merah Putih Village Cooperative
JAKARTA – The Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions (Mendes PDT), Yandri Susanto, attended a Coordination Meeting (Rakor) on the operational acceleration of the Red and White Village/Sub-district Cooperatives (KDKMP). The meeting was led by the Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan, at the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs office in Jakarta, Monday (April 20, 2026).
In his presentation, Minister Yandri conveyed aspirations from the village level, suggesting that Village Heads and KDKMP boards be involved or designated as "backup management" in KDKMP operations.
This strategy ensures that after two years—when PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara eventually hands over the management—the villages and the cooperative boards are fully prepared to continue the operations of KDKMP independently.
To achieve this, Minister Yandri proposed that KDKMP units ready for operation should be socialized virtually in the near future. This would allow Village Heads and cooperative boards to understand the commencement dates, the types of goods to be distributed to the villages, and the overall management system of the KDKMP.
"For the villages involved in the initial operational phase of KDKMP, I believe it is mandatory to engage the Village Heads and the cooperative boards in discussion, which can be done via Zoom. The Ministry of Villages is ready to facilitate this to ensure everyone shares the same understanding," Minister Yandri explained.
"The success of these village cooperatives depends on the 'spirit of the struggle' being felt at the village level—by the residents, the Village Head, the Village Consultative Body (BPD), and the cooperative boards. If they do not feel a sense of ownership, it will be difficult to achieve our goals," he added.
Meanwhile, the Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan, emphasized that cross-ministerial coordination will continue to accelerate KDKMP operations across Indonesia.
Commonly known as Zulhas, the Coordinating Minister noted that at least 35,408 sites are ready for construction, 25,625 sites are currently under development, and 5,714 KDKMP units have completed construction.
"This (KDKMP) is a flagship program that concerns the livelihoods of many people. We must complete this by the end of the year so the public can feel the impact of these cooperatives," Minister Zulhas stated.
He targets that by June-July 2026, at least 30,000 KDKMP units will be operational, allowing the benefits of the cooperatives to be significantly felt by the community by 2027.
KDKMP is designed to serve multiple roles: as an off-taker, a supplier of raw materials for Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG), an LPG station, a fertilizer agent, and a distribution point for social assistance. Ultimately, KDKMP is expected to become the economic hub for villages throughout Indonesia.
"If 30,000 cooperatives are completed by June or July, the public will start feeling the benefits in 2027. We are currently in the process, which is why we will hold weekly meetings to finalize this," Zulhas concluded.
Also in attendance were the Minister of Cooperatives, Ferry Juliantono; Minister of Trade, Budi Santoso; Deputy Head of the SOE Regulatory Agency, Tedi Bharata; President Director of PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara, Joao Angelo De Sousa Mota; and other relevant high-ranking officials.
