JAKARTA – The Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions (Mendes PDT), Yandri Susanto, was officially inaugurated as General Chairman of the Seganti Setungguan Family Association (Ikatan Keluarga Seganti Setungguan / IKSS) for the 2026–2031 tenure. The ceremony took place at the TMII Pencak Silat Hall Multipurpose Building in Jakarta on Sunday (August 23, 2026).
In his inaugural address, Minister Yandri reaffirmed his commitment to guiding IKSS in making tangible contributions to the Republic of Indonesia. He called on all newly appointed IKSS board members to unite and dedicate their efforts toward fostering future public welfare.
"Fundamentally, this association exists to ensure that the finest sons and daughters of Southern Sumatra can dedicate their best efforts to the nation. We aim to unite all strengths and elements—young and old, men and women—to offer our service from overseas and afar," Minister Yandri stated.
Minister Yandri further outlined that IKSS's upcoming work programs will focus primarily on social affairs, healthcare, and economic empowerment. By prioritizing these areas, he emphasized, IKSS's presence will deliver direct, meaningful benefits to the people of Southern Sumatra specifically and the broader public generally.
Consequently, he urged all board members inaugurated during the event to remain solid, work diligently, serve sincerely, and deliver exceptional outcomes for the community.
He stressed that IKSS must serve both the diaspora living outside their home regions and families residing in rural areas, villages, and remote hamlets.
"I hope the benefits of IKSS are genuinely felt—whether by diaspora originating from Southern Sumatra or anywhere else—through social assistance programs, support for the sick, and grassroots economic initiatives. As Minister of Villages, given that Southern Sumatra encompasses many rural areas, my focus includes empowering rural economies so that rural youth and residents are fully integrated into government programs, ultimately achieving public welfare," Minister Yandri explained.
"Once again, IKSS must help shape the nation's trajectory and deliver its finest contributions to our beloved country. I am fully confident that through unity and solidarity, God willing, IKSS will deliver positive impacts for both its members and the wider community," he concluded.
For context, IKSS is a community association (paguyuban) serving as a gathering point for diaspora originating from the Bumi Seganti Setungguan cluster in Southern Sumatra. IKSS oversees 13 regional community organizations across Southern Sumatra.
