JAKARTA – The Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions (Mendes PDT), Yandri Susanto, received an audience from the Chairman of the Central Board of the Indonesian Islamic Dawah Institute (DPP LDII), Dody Taufiq Wijaya, and his delegation at the Ministry's office in Kalibata, Monday (April 27, 2026).
During the meeting, Chairman Dody Taufiq Wijaya stated that DPP LDII is prepared to mentor and establish thematic foster villages as a follow-up to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) previously signed between LDII and the Ministry.
He further noted that the organization has identified several villages across various provinces in Indonesia to be proposed as thematic foster villages, which will be developed based on their specific local potentials.
The proposed villages include:
- Gadingmangu Village (Jombang Regency): Potential for a "Community Health Village."
- Batu Nanta Village (Melawi Regency): Proposed as a "Food Security Village."
- Way Bungur Village (East Lampung): Potential for an "Ecotourism Village."
- Anugerah and Lantari Villages (Bombana Regency): Proposed as "Sorghum and Corn Villages."
- Kuala Pembuang Satu Village (Seruyan Regency): Potential for an "Agritourism Village."
- Martadah Baru Village (Tanah Laut Regency): Potential for a "Sorghum and Taro Village."
- Pantai Cabe Village (Tapin Regency): Potential for an "Oyster Mushroom and Organic Fertilizer Village."
"LDII has proposed eight thematic foster villages across Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Java. We hope this initiative serves as a righteous deed for LDII members, acting as a catalyst for growth between LDII and the Ministry," Dody remarked.
Responding to the proposal, Minister Yandri expressed his full support for LDII's efforts. In his view, community organizations like LDII are strategic partners in rural development, particularly in establishing foster villages.
Minister Yandri highlighted that LDII’s presence in various regions and its direct involvement in society play a crucial role in increasing community participation, empowering rural residents, and acting as a government partner to bring services closer to the people.
"Many thematic villages were proposed today, ranging from food security to tourism. We have witnessed LDII's high commitment across various aspects, including food security, national defense, and human resource development. Their work is extraordinary and deserves to be a model that the Ministry can replicate so that villages can become truly independent, advanced, and empowered," Minister Yandri stated.
"Every component of the nation—be it state officials, mass organizations, universities, or the private sector—must be directly involved in creating foster villages. LDII will create a roadmap to be managed jointly with the Ministry. We recognize that LDII's bases often overlap with village areas where vast potential exists for us to develop," he added.
Accompanying Minister Yandri in the meeting were Inspector General Masyhudi, Director General of PEID Tabrani, Head of BPI Mulyadin Malik, and Special Staff to the Minister Fahad At-Tamimi.
