JAKARTA – The Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions (Mendes PDT), Yandri Susanto, emphasized that post-disaster flood relief in Aceh is vital to accelerate community recovery and rehabilitate damaged rural infrastructure.
Highlighting the urgency of relief operations, Minister Yandri pledged sustained access to clean water and medical supplies to mitigate post-flood health risks, including acute respiratory infections (ISPA) and waterborne diseases.
"Post-disaster recovery requires immediate support. Affected areas can be integrated into our ministry's designated programs, including the Thematic Village framework. I urge regional leaders to coordinate directly with the Director General to finalize damage data and relief priorities," Minister Yandri stated during an audience with regional heads from flood-affected areas in Aceh at the Kemendes PDT headquarters in South Jakarta on Thursday (September 10, 2026).
Minister Yandri underscored that repairing village access roads and restoring clean water supplies represent the top two post-flood priorities to stabilize daily life and prevent secondary humanitarian crises.
Functional transportation corridors are essential to ensure disaster victims requiring emergency medical care reach nearby health centers (puskesmas) or hospitals without delay, while enabling children to resume schooling safely.
Concurrently, economic restoration serves as a strategic driver for local recovery, particularly through the revitalization of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUM Desa) to navigate post-disaster economic fluctuations.
"We appreciate the presence of the Regent of Bireuen, Deputy Regent of Pidie Jaya, Regent of Aceh Tamiang, and Mayor of Subulussalam. Our programs cover BUM Desa development, thematic villages, village road infrastructure, and clean water provision," Minister Yandri added.
The delegation attending the audience included Regent of Bireuen Mukhlis, Deputy Regent of Pidie Jaya Hasan Basri, Regent of Aceh Tamiang Armia Fahmi, Mayor of Subulussalam M. Rasyid Bancin, Deputy Speaker of Subulussalam Regional House of Representatives (DPRK) Rasumin Pohan, and Chairman of Commission II DPRK Hasbullah.
Accompanying Minister Yandri during the meeting were Director General of PEID Tabrani, Head of BPSDM Agustomi Masik, and Special Staff to the Minister M. Fahad Attamimi.
