SERANG – The Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions (Mendes PDT), Yandri Susanto, continues to implement various measures to enhance the quality of education in villages across Indonesia.
One of these efforts involves a strategic collaboration between the Ministry of Villages (Kemendes PDT) and the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen). Minister Yandri stated that this synergy aims to improve educational standards nationwide, including in Serang Regency.
According to him, a key feature of this partnership is the "One Village, One PAUD" (Early Childhood Education) initiative, which focuses on building high-quality PAUD facilities and improving infrastructure to support learning. Consequently, he invited all school principals and educators in Serang to serve as prime examples of this successful collaboration.
"In Serang Regency, there are 326 villages; they are all villages with no urban districts (kelurahan). Therefore, as the Minister of Villages, I have a direct interest in ensuring that educational quality is truly realized in every village in Serang," said Minister Yandri during a synergy meeting with educators at the BAI Mahdi Islamic Boarding School, Serang, Tuesday (April 14, 2026).
"I have signed an MoU with the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Prof. Mu'ti, to improve village education quality across Indonesia. I hope the implementation in Serang Regency will become a model of excellence," he added.
Furthermore, Minister Yandri urged educators in Serang to actively oversee the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program, which is closely linked to schools. He emphasized that the success of the MBG program depends on the supervision of principals, supervisors, and all educational stakeholders.
Minister Yandri also encouraged educators not to hesitate in reporting any mismanagement of the MBG program. He noted that thousands of Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) have already been suspended or sanctioned by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). He stressed the importance of maintaining MBG quality in Serang to prevent future issues.
"We must look beyond the food served on the children's tables; your vigilance is vital. I ask you to be the eyes, ears, and monitors on the ground to ensure quality, quantity, and hygiene are strictly maintained," Minister Yandri asserted.
"We must ensure no children fall ill or suffer from food poisoning due to the MBG program. This is a noble initiative with a vast supply chain; in the Ministry of Villages, we now have villages dedicated to egg production, corn, bananas, melons, tilapia, and catfish to support it," he concluded.
