SURABAYA – The Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions (Mendes PDT), Yandri Susanto, emphasized that a firm commitment from all stakeholders is essential to ensure the success of the Drug-Free Village (Desa Bersinar) program.
Minister Yandri also requested East Java Province to serve as a national role model in drug abuse prevention. He urged all parties to be actively involved and ready to fight against narcotics, noting that drugs destroy all pillars of national life—including ideology, social structures, culture, economy, and national defense.
"Prevention is better than a cure. Today’s movement is a concrete and real action. Together with the National Anti-Narcotics Agency (BNN RI), the Governor, Mayors, and Regents, we share the same responsibility. Drugs are one of the world's toughest enemies today, including for Indonesia," Minister Yandri stated while attending the East Java Drug-Free Declaration (Jawa Timur Bersinar) at the East Java Cultural Center, Friday (Feb 13, 2026).
"Our enemy is invisible; they suddenly enter our yards, our homes, and target our families. The operations of drug lords are silent and cunning, and we must not be outmatched," he added.
To achieve this, the Minister hopes for collaborative support from Regents, Mayors, Village Heads, community leaders, and religious leaders. He stressed that everyone must remain vigilant, aligning with President Prabowo Subianto's directive that the government operates not as a "Superman," but as a "Super Team."
He further expressed his appreciation for the East Java Provincial Government for its continuous efforts in promoting drug-free villages to realize the "Indonesia Emas 2045" vision.
"Congratulations to East Java. From the village perspective, we are very grateful for this movement. This is not just words or a declaration; let’s watch over our families, our neighborhoods, and our villages. God willing, 'Indonesia Emas 2045' will become a reality—an Indonesia free from drugs," said Minister Yandri.
During the event, Minister Yandri was also presented with an award from the Head of BNN RI for his commitment and service in realizing a drug-free Indonesia through the P4GN (Prevention, Eradication, Abuse, and Illicit Trafficking of Narcotics) initiative.
The event was attended by the Head of BNN RI Suyudi Ario Seto, East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, DPD RI Member Lia Istifhama, and the East Java Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda).
Accompanying Minister Yandri at the event were the Director General of Village Economic Development and Investment, Tabrani; the Director General of Village and Rural Area Development, Nugroho Setijo Nagoro; the Head of BPSDM, Agustomi Masik; and Special Staff to the Minister, Muhammad Afif Zamroni.
