BOGOR – The Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions (Mendes PDT), Yandri Susanto, attended the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (HANI) commemoration, organized by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) at the BNN Rehabilitation Center in Bogor, West Java, on Thursday (July 23, 2026).
Minister Yandri's attendance underscores the Ministry's commitment to realizing Drug-Free Villages (Desa Bersih Narkoba or Desa Bersinar), an initiative targeting villages and sub-districts to ensure residents remain free from illicit drug abuse.
Desa Bersinar is a joint collaborative program between the Ministry of Villages and PDT and BNN, aimed at safeguarding communities at the village and sub-district levels against narcotics.
Minister Yandri emphasized the crucial nature of this initiative, pointing out that villages constitute the primary foundation of the nation, occupying the vast majority of Indonesia's territory, making it imperative to protect rural residents from falling victim to illicit drugs.
"The future of this country depends on all of us—not solely on the President, ministers, governors, or regents it depends on every single one of us. Therefore, President Prabowo's directive centers on cooperation, as we operate not as Supermen, but as a Super Team," Minister Yandri stated on various occasions.
The program has been officially launched across several provinces and is actively executed through the firm commitment of village apparatuses and their local communities. The government has established various reporting and monitoring platforms as part of ongoing efforts to ensure citizens of all ages and backgrounds live free from drug trafficking and abuse.
During the 2026 HANI Commemoration, Minister Yandri, accompanied by Head of BNN Police Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto and Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago, inspected the BNN Expo and witnessed the destruction of 3.37 tons of illicit drugs, confiscated from enforcement operations across Indonesia.
Of the confiscated evidence, 8,872.08 grams of methamphetamine were destroyed, while 90.24 grams were set aside for laboratory testing. Additionally, out of 3,006 grams of hashish, 2,996 grams were destroyed and 10 grams retained for lab examination.
Furthermore, 3,087,685.2 grams of cannabis flower originating from Thailand were destroyed, with 9,396 grams reserved for laboratory analysis. Chemical precursor liquids were also destroyed during the event.
Beyond the relevant ministries and government agencies, the monitoring and eradication of drug abuse actively engage the general public. Citizens across Indonesia are encouraged to play a direct role in achieving Golden Indonesia 2045 (Indonesia Emas 2045), a national vision requiring healthy, intelligent, superior, productive, high-character, and competitive human resources.
