JAKARTA – The Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions (Mendes PDT), Yandri Susanto, reported that his ministry continues to accelerate village development by forging multi-stakeholder partnerships aimed at boosting rural community welfare.
These strategic collaborations are leveraged by Kemendes PDT utilizing non-state budget (APBN) funding sources.
First, Kemendes PDT has partnered with the Hakko Fukushikai Foundation from Japan to build rural human resource capacity by offering international scholarships to village youth.
"We have launched the 'Youth Building Villages, Building Indonesia' program," Minister Yandri stated during a Working Meeting (Rapat Kerja) with Commission V of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) on Thursday (August 20, 2026).
Beyond human resource development, Minister Yandri highlighted ongoing initiatives to maximize the potential of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUM Desa).
These efforts include a strategic partnership with China’s New Hope Fintech to support rural enterprise growth.
"We have engaged New Hope China, who stands ready to provide technical assistance and empowerment for BUM Desa through advanced technological systems," Minister Yandri explained.
In addition to strengthening BUM Desa, this collaboration will be optimized to enhance other Kemendes PDT flagship initiatives, including Tourism Villages and Export Villages.
Most recently, Kemendes PDT partnered with PT PLN Energi Primer Indonesia (PLN EPI) to develop people's economy-based biomass ecosystems via BUM Desa, supporting the national energy transition and achieving Net Zero Emission targets across villages and disadvantaged regions.
Minister Yandri appealed for continued backing from Commission V of the DPR RI, noting that these programs rely heavily on legislative support to achieve optimal results.
The multi-stakeholder initiatives were warmly received by the leadership of Commission V.
"Once again, let's give a round of applause for the Minister of Villages. Excellent," remarked Chairman of Commission V DPR RI, Lasarus.
During the meeting, Minister Yandri also presented the 2025 Central Government Financial Report (LKPP) alongside budget realization updates through August 2026.
Accompanying Minister Yandri at the hearing were Deputy Minister Ahmad Riza Patria, Secretary-General Taufik Madjid, and senior officials from across Kemendes PDT.
