JAKARTA – The Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions (Mendes PDT), Yandri Susanto, has called upon all Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) within the Ministry to take an active role in rural development. One such initiative is through the "Foster Village" (Desa Binaan) program, where employees can adopt a village based on their birthplace or other connections to ensure government programs run smoothly and effectively.
"We must drive good government programs. Please eliminate sectoral egos; at the very least, we should support the government in our own way rather than causing disruption," he stated during the opening of the 2026 PPPK Orientation at the Ministry’s Operational Room in Jakarta, Thursday (April 23, 2026).
"Within this Ministry, we will implement the Foster Village program. We are declaring a Ministry-wide initiative to mentor villages by partnering with various stakeholders and overseeing existing programs. With so many programs currently directed at villages, it is our duty to guard them," Minister Yandri added.
This appeal was made because the village is the ultimate destination for major government initiatives, such as the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG), Red and White Village Cooperatives (KDMP), stunting reduction, and poverty alleviation. Therefore, it is mandatory for Ministry employees to be fully involved according to their respective authorities.
Furthermore, the Minister advised orientation participants to carefully study the materials provided, particularly regarding the tasks, functions, and work units within the Ministry. He expressed hope that the employees' roles would be maximized both inside and outside the office, ensuring that no village remains "disadvantaged" and that the quality of Indonesia's human resources truly improves.
"Take this orientation seriously; do not remain ignorant of your own 'home.' You must fully understand the Ministry of Villages. This is the institution we represent, and its success depends on all of you. We are managing all of Indonesia, not just a few regions," he said.
The orientation includes material on organizational introduction as well as the values and ethics of government agencies. Through these sessions, participants are expected to become reliable "fighters" ready to build villages across Indonesia while adhering to applicable regulations.
The opening of the orientation was attended by Secretary-General Taufik Madjid, Head of BPSDM Agustomi Masik, Head of BPI Mulyadin, and Inspector General Masyhudi.
A total of 492 participants, consisting of PPPK batches from 2024 and 2025, attended the event both in person and virtually.
