KLATEN – The Deputy Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions (Wamendes PDT), Ahmad Riza Patria, officially opened the dissemination of Decree of the Minister of Villages and PDT No. 578 of 2026 on BUM Desa Publication Guidelines, alongside a capacity-building workshop on digital media management for BUM Desa managers. The event took place at Janti Park in Janti Village, Polanharjo District, Klaten Regency, on Wednesday (August 26, 2026).
Deputy Minister Ariza stated that Village-Owned Enterprises (BUM Desa) serve as a crucial instrument for fostering rural economic independence.
BUM Desa must effectively manage local assets, unlock business opportunities, generate employment, deliver public services, and ultimately enhance the overall welfare of rural residents.
Consequently, the measure of a BUM Desa's success extends beyond revenue, assets, and profits.
"Success is equally measured by how well the public knows, trusts, utilizes, and benefits from the presence of BUM Desa," Deputy Minister Ariza emphasized.
He noted that Klaten Regency exemplifies this economic diversity, with local BUM Desa managing water tourism, village markets, clean water supply, culinary hubs, local internet services, commerce, services, livestock, aquaculture, and waste management. However, these assets must be optimized and promoted broadly to attract both consumers and prospective investors.
Digital media, he added, serves as a new marketplace and digital storefront for BUM Desa. By maintaining active channels across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, websites, and other platforms, BUM Desa open their doors for a wider audience to recognize their initiatives.
To support this transformation, the Ministry of Villages and PDT issued Decree No. 578 of 2026 on BUM Desa Publication Guidelines.
The guidelines are designed not to add administrative burdens, but rather to streamline and structure public communications. They provide clear directions for delivering accurate, educational, participatory, professional, inclusive, and accountable information that brings tangible value to the community.
Deputy Minister Ariza expressed hope that the digital media management workshop would raise the profile of BUM Desa among local communities, consumers, regional governments, and national markets.
During the event, Deputy Minister Ariza engaged in a dialogue with BUM Desa managers to gather direct field insights. Operators raised key challenges, including requests for subsidies to lower livestock feed costs, as well as targeted training programs to improve managerial capacity.
Earlier, Head of the Public Relations Bureau Andi Nita Arie reported that the workshop was attended by 100 BUM Desa managers from Klaten and Boyolali Regencies.
She expressed optimism that the training would empower managers to publish local village potential through digital platforms in a planned and consistent manner, ultimately driving product promotion, service adoption, and public participation.
Andi Nita further detailed that the session included practical walkthroughs of Minister Decree No. 578 of 2026, which serves as a benchmark regulatory guide for leveraging digital media.
The workshop also featured hands-on exercises led by the Jaring Indonesia Team, focusing on website utilization for broadcasting village activities, assets, and news, alongside practical social media management techniques.
The event was fully supported by development partner Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI).
Notable attendees included Head of the Center for Policy Development (Pusbangjak) Agus Kuncoro, Acting Regional Secretary of Klaten Jaka Purwanto, Head of the Klaten Community and Village Empowerment Agency (DPMD) Wahyuni Sri Rahayu, representatives from the Ministry's Legal Bureau, Head of Janti Village Tri Prakoso, and Director of BUM Desa Jaya Janti Didik Setiawan.
