JAKARTA — Secretary General of the Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions (Kemendes PDT), Taufik Madjid, chaired an inter-ministerial and agency coordination meeting to finalize preparations for National Village Day (Hari Desa Nasional / HDN) 2027, which will be centered in Mojokerto Regency, East Java. Held at Hotel Gran Melia Jakarta on Monday (October 19, 2026), the meeting addressed event itineraries, national competition branches, committee task distribution, and technical readiness to ensure HDN 2027 serves as a catalyst for strengthening collaboration and empowering village community economies.
The meeting engaged representatives from various ministries and agencies, including the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Manpower, Ministry of Creative Economy, Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, National Nutrition Agency (Badan Gizi Nasional), as well as elements of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri). This cross-sectoral engagement aims to reinforce execution coordination while expanding public participation throughout the HDN 2027 event series.
The National Village Day 2027 commemoration is designed not merely as a ceremonial routine, but as a vehicle to accelerate village-based national priority programs, showcase development innovations and best practices, and solidify partnerships among the central government, regional governments, the business sector, and local communities.
During the session, Secretary General Taufik coordinated the refinement of pre-event schedules leading up to the main ceremony scheduled for January 16, 2027. The itinerary encompasses seminars, workshops, cultural arts festivals, sporting events, and various national-level competitions highlighting the potential and creativity of rural populations.
On January 14, 2027, scheduled agendas include a joint assembly of village heads, reinforcement of village development commitments, the Village League (Liga Desa) finals, musical performances, and fellowship gatherings with village heads.
Subsequently, on January 15, 2027, activities will feature a fun walk, a cultural carnival involving 18 districts across Mojokerto Regency, a networking reception, and official award presentations.
The climax of National Village Day on January 16, 2027, is slated to feature award presentations for the winners of 15 competition branches, alongside a traditional wayang kulit (leather shadow puppet) performance as part of local cultural preservation efforts.
Competition categories under preparation include the Village League, Gen Z Village Ambassador Festival, Archipelago Tourism Villages (Desa Wisata Nusantara), food security innovations, BUM Desa, Export Villages (Desa Ekspor), Digital Villages (Desa Digital), as well as innovation competitions focusing on women-friendly, child-caring, and educational initiatives.
Additionally, the event features a village film festival, a documentary video competition on villages and disadvantaged regions, a village website competition, an electronic sports (e-sports) tournament, and recognition awards for villages demonstrating best practices in protecting Indonesian migrant workers.
To guarantee organizational readiness, the meeting detailed operational responsibilities among the central government, regional governments, and village associations. The central government is tasked with policy drafting, national committee formation, inter-agency coordination, and event media relations.
Meanwhile, regional governments are responsible for site readiness, infrastructure, security, local transport, and field execution. Village associations are engaged to broaden outreach and drive participation among village heads and local residents.
Kemendes PDT also called for a structured timeline, the appointment of field coordinators for each division, intensified media coverage, and periodic evaluations to ensure seamless coordination across all event phases.
Through the HDN 2027 commemoration, Kemendes PDT aims to elevate the visibility of rural economic potentials, innovations, and cultural heritage, while opening avenues for partnership expansion and community empowerment.
These measures directly reflect President Prabowo Subianto's 6th Asta Cita, focusing on building from the villages and from the grassroots for economic equity and poverty eradication, positioning villages as primary engines of national growth.
