JAKARTA – The Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions (Mendes PDT), Yandri Susanto, commended the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) for organizing the "BRIN Goes to Villages: BRIN Menyapa Desa" initiative.
According to the Minister, the initiative aligns closely with President Prabowo Subianto's 6th Asta Cita (Aspiration): "Building from the Village and from the Bottom-Up for Economic Equality and Poverty Eradication."
Furthermore, the 5 pillars of the Innovative Village framework conceptualized by BRIN—spanning social, governance, economic, environmental, and local wisdom dimensions—are deeply connected to the Ministry's "12 Strategic Actions to Build Villages and Build Indonesia" program.
"Consequently, we have forged a mutual commitment with the Head of BRIN to ensure that BRIN's research findings and innovations can be directly implemented at the village level," stated Minister Yandri while delivering his keynote speech at the event held at the B.J. Habibie Building, BRIN, Jakarta, on Thursday (June 4, 2026).
Minister Yandri elaborated that within the 12 strategic actions, the Ministry runs tourism village, export village, and thematic village programs that require technical mentoring from BRIN. This synergy aims to ensure that these initiatives ultimately translate into increased welfare for rural communities.
He expressed confidence that combining this collaboration with other line ministries/agencies (K/L)—such as the Ministry of Environment's waste-free village program—will form a powerful collective effort to ensure Indonesia's "Golden Indonesia 2045" vision remains firmly on track.
The Ministry also operates the Green Economy Self-Sufficiency and Integrated Food Security (SEHATI) program, which is a joint collaboration between the Government of Indonesia and the World Bank.
Minister Yandri called upon all stakeholders to engage directly or indirectly in securing the success of these programs. He emphasized that every entity must fulfill the responsibilities structuralized by the state across various ministries, agencies, and the private sector.
"Our target is approximately 10,000 villages. We will maximize village potentials, supported by various forms of affirmative action. Once again, we will involve multiple parties because, as the President constantly reminds us, we are not Superman; we are a Super Team," Minister Yandri remarked.
"Alhamdulillah, we have already partnered with 500 private companies and State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) to establish assisted villages. Visiting BRIN today further ignites our enthusiasm to ensure that we can develop and advance all 75,266 villages, turning our mission to build villages and build Indonesia into reality," he concluded.
The event was also attended by the Minister of Environment Moh. Jumhur Hidayat, Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency Arif Satria, Member of Commission XI of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) HM. Musthofa, and the Head of the National Institute of Public Administration (LAN) Muhammad Taufiq.
Accompanying Minister Yandri from the Ministry was Secretary-General Taufik Madjid.
